Certified Yoga Anatomy for Practice and Teaching

Foundations of Yoga Anatomy is a ten-module course designed for yoga practitioners of all levels and trainee yoga teachers. No prior knowledge of anatomy or biology is assumed. Each module builds progressively on the last, moving from foundational concepts (the language of anatomy, skeletal structure, muscle mechanics) through regional body systems (spine, core, hips, shoulders) to the nervous system, breath, and finally the practical application of everything learned to safe, intelligent, and inclusive yoga teaching.

Each module includes:

  • Learning Outcomes — clear, measurable statements of what you will be able to do after completing the module

  • Numbered Sections — covering each major topic with both narrative explanation and image placeholders

  • Diagrams and Infographics — over 50 downloadable, visually annotated images with accurate anatomical terminology to support visual learning and reinforce knowledge retention

  • Module Summary — consolidating key learning and bridging to the next module

Course Duration: 15-20 Hours. All courses comprise of end of unit module quizzes and a final multiple choice exam requiring a pass rate of 75%. You'll receive a personalized printable certificate by Wellness Gurus once qualified.

Why now:

  • Yoga is growing — and so are its injury rates — As yoga participation continues to rise globally, so does demand for teachers who can move beyond alignment cues and teach with genuine anatomical understanding.

  • No prior science knowledge required — This 10-module course starts from the ground up, making it equally accessible to complete beginners and experienced practitioners looking to formalise their knowledge.

  • Evidence-informed teaching is now the standard — Students and wellness employers increasingly expect yoga teachers to understand skeletal variation, injury prevention, and safe modification — this course gives you exactly that foundation.

  • Teach every body, not just the 'ideal' pose — With a focus on anatomical variation, special populations, and intelligent modification, you'll graduate equipped to teach inclusively and safely across all student needs.
